A large box filled with special treasures has been smiling at me for quite some time now. Sometimes I smile back and firmly resolve to take some time out for myself again soon. Inside the box are eyelets, lingerie fabrics, lace, bra underwires, rivets, boning, and Rigilene, along with particularly high-quality corset fabrics and favorite scraps. An invitation to sew lingerie.
Today was my 'definite plan' day, and I'm starting gently and taking you along for the ride. I've got my #ohalingerie pattern and decided on the hipster dress and the camisole without darts.
To get you and me in the perfect mood, I've unearthed a gem from the past and present to you the editing critique by Pavel Ramochowkowsky, whose real name is Timo Ebeling , a dear friend and a master of dialects. ❥

Generally, I don't wear a camisole, a blouse with lace and such, when it's warm. However, it does look lovely when worn as part of an ensemble. Among all my everyday underwear, I personally like lace and a touch of sophistication – but not too much romance.
#sportysexy sums it up pretty well.

And that's precisely what makes sewing lingerie so unique. I can design it to perfectly match my needs or work with my favorite leftover fabrics so I don't end up crying in front of the trash can.

First, an important piece of information for all of you out there. Homemade lingerie will always be larger than store-bought thongs from Pussy Deluxe, Victoria's Secret, or other brands. No, you can't stuff your panties into a miniature lipstick-sized bag once you reach a size 40. Unfortunately.

The reason is simple: the industry uses fabrics with a high elastane content, and most manufacturers have their own size charts. They like to make things smaller – because that makes customers happy. So don't be alarmed if you start sewing lingerie for yourself.

It is important to pay attention to the elastane content of the chosen fabric and not to despair if it is not perfect right away.

But how do you start if you've never sewn lingerie before?

✁✁✁
I would suggest looking in the laundry drawer.
What do I like, what's comfortable for me, and above all, what have I always wanted? I gradually discovered that I'm happiest with hipster and high-waisted underwear.

I dedicated the thong to my youth, and now at 39, I don't want anything pinching or just fitting badly. So, if you know what you like, I recommend doing a few basic exercises and drawing your favorite versions. A simple drawing, or, as in the ebook, using a template, a few pencils, and imagination. That's all you need.

Visit a fabric store or your favorite online retailer, get some advice, and only choose fabrics and colors that you are 100% sure about. The goal, after all, is to wear the lingerie you've sewn and receive a compliment or two.

✁✁✁
In the end, I chose black and complemented the ensemble with grey lace and elastic. For the hipster style, I incorporated some non-stretch lace into the side panel of the front.

For such details, it makes sense to prepare the lace twice for each side and to place the seam between the three layers of fabric in order to make the outer appearance as clean as possible.

Cutting the fabric can be a bit of a challenge depending on the fabric choice, and even I occasionally end up with the famous "bat wings" effect – that is, slightly misaligned cuts in some places. This mistake can be corrected later.

The best remedy for wings, incisions, etc., is time and practice.
And for those who would like to try this with my #ohalingerie pattern, you can redeem a generous 30% discount in my shop until April 30, 2020 with the following code: SL-OHA-30PROZENT2020

❥ Ensemble #chatnoir
Do you remember the poster of the Parisian bohemian establishment?
I have that image in my mind and have never forgotten it, after I gave my heart to a Frenchman when I was young. Mmm... Montmartre, nights in front of the Eiffel Tower until the lights went out, crazy carefree days, and pigeons just hanging upside down in some shop windows... (yuck)

I'm getting off-topic. In any case, if you're interested, I'd be happy to delve deeper into the topic of lingerie, corsets, and the like, and create a new section on it.
Know-how in various fields, technical drawings, and one or two other things: OOHHH! Oh!
This isn't entirely selfless, because I also enjoy learning new things and will read and immerse myself in my old textbooks.

Interested? Or have you already sewn lingerie, corsets, girdles, etc.? Tell us about it!

❥ If not, just go for it.
